Every three years, last time 2012, an external institute conducts an anonymous employee survey across the entire Lindt & Sprüngli Group and gives feedback as to whether the company is on the right track. The survey 2012 achieved a response rate of around 80 percent and clearly showed that a majority of the employees are strongly committed to Lindt & Sprüngli as an employer. The overall job satisfaction rate was higher than 80%. The employees’ degree of identification both with the company and with the brand is very high. Feedback on the following points was particularly favourable: Working climate, work content, work information and management conduct. The local Human Resource organisations follow up the survey and present a catalogue of measures for improvement. The next survey will take place end of 2015.

Education and training

Social security benefits and compensation

Employee remuneration includes basic pay, legal social security benefits, a bonus system based on personal and company performance and a share option programme for management and key individuals.

Production operatives also receive extra premiums for shift and weekend work, different models of bonus opportunity, sharing in any gains from efficiency increases, and – where applicable – contributions to the state and/or the company’s retirement pension schemes.

Workplace health and safety

No task is so important and no service so urgent that it cannot be done safely. Lindt & Sprüngli wants its products to be manufactured in a responsible manner and ensures that working conditions enable employees to perform their tasks without endangering their health and safety. In order to further enhance the prevention of work-related injury and illness, the company has issued a health and safety policy which is strictly adhered to by all manufacturing and distribution companies in the Lindt & Sprüngli Group.

The cornerstones of this policy are the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, the proactive reduction of injury hazards, and the insistence that all employees are fully aware of their own responsibility to follow safe working practices. The company conducts safety training with employees at regular intervals. and has regular risk audits on all production sites conducted by the insurance broker. The company’s Accident Reporting & Measures scrutinises all incidents and plans measures for future avoidance.

Freedom of association

Lindt & Sprüngli respects the rights of employees to form and join trade unions and to bargain collectively. In line with EU requirements, the company organises an annual meeting – the European Works Council – where workers’ representatives from all Lindt & Sprüngli European Union subsidiaries and Switzerland are given the opportunity to exchange their opinions and meet with Group management. Currently, Lindt & Sprüngli’s workers are collectively organised in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the USA (Ghirardelli).
